The Widow of Zarephath by Bernardo Strozzi

I am beginning to believe with all the world is facing at this time, we are at a tipping point in history. We face many uncertainties. After months of living under a world-wide pandemic and now facing a world-wide examination of conscience regarding our treatment of one another, people are physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually exhausted.

Our readings from Mass today show us our path forward. Like Elijah and the widow of Zarephath, we are to place our trust in the God of creation, the God of time and history, the God of salvation. Though we know not where to place our next step or from where our next meal may come, we are instructed to trust in the Lord!

Jesus also gives great encouragement when he tells us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. He has given us everything we need to rise to the occasion of this time in history!
