Jesus prepares the disciples before his passion for his return to the Father while also promising to send the Advocate to be with them. This Holy Spirit invigorated the early Church. Indeed the Holy Spirit was the source of courage and the ‘wind’ that drove the early apostles into the world to spread the Good News.
As Church, we cannot remain stagnant. The Church by the power of the Holy Spirit is always moving forward, proclaiming the Good News and trusting in the power and providence of God. We cannot be like someone attempting to drive a car by only and always looking in the rearview mirror. No, life and the Church always move forward.
May we remain open to the promptings and power of the Holy Spirit at work in the Church today!
