Happy Feast of the Holy Family! Regardless of the size or makeup of your family, we are all a part of the one family of God.

The opening prayer for Mass this morning asks that we may imitate the Holy Family in practicing the virtues of family life. St. Paul in the Letter to the Colossians tells us what some of those basic virtues include:

heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.

May all our families grow in faith, authentically and credibly pass on the faith to each new generation, and especially grow in love.

Please take time today to listen to God’s Word from today’s Mass and the instruction from today’s homily.

I also encourage you as a family, to receive the blessing at the end of Mass, which is for all our families, particularly those in need of reconciliation.

Peace,
