Eucharistic Procession

Tonight as I processed around the church, the word “Christ-Bearer” kept repeating itself in my mind. Carrying the Eucharist in procession is a beautiful symbol of how the bishop and priest is the presence of Christ in the midst of the People of God. But as the presence of Christ is born in the Eucharist through the Church, it surely symbolizes that we are all to be “Christ-Bearers” to the world. As we celebrate again throughout the Universal Church today the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, may we all grow in our faith in the presence of the Lord in the Eucharist. May our celebrations of these Holy Days renew this faith in the Church, that we may all be better able to bring Christ’s presence into the world through His great commandment: “Love one another, as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)
