Most of you have heard about the recent news of one of our US Cardinals, Theodore McCarrick being removed from public ministry following a credible, substantiated accusation that he sexually abused a minor as a priest, and a subsequent allegation that he had abused another child for nearly two decades. Enter Through The Narrow Gate; The Way Of Christ

Jesus gives us some great one liners in today’s Gospel. (Matthew 7: 6, 12-14) Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and Read more

John The Baptist, Elizabeth & Zechariah Allowed God’s Plan To Interrupt Their Own

On this Nativity of John The Baptist, we look to a critical moment in the history of salvation.  On this solemnity, our minds are drawn as much to the holy couples of Elizabeth and Zechariah & Joseph and Mary as they are to John the Baptist. This is a seminal Read more

For The Love Of God & Catholic Schools

I recently heard a father speak about his daughter’s upcoming wedding. He said: “I’ll be glad when it is over.” He was excited for his daughter and son-in-law-to-be, but was also frustrated with how the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony was getting lost in all the other details of planning for Read more

Welcome!

Archbishop Etienne's Welcome Mass in Seattle

Welcome to my blog, and thanks for visiting! I became the Archbishop of Seattle on September 3, 2019 after serving as Coadjutor Archbishop of Seattle from June 7, 2019. Prior to that, I served 2 and a half years as Archbishop of Anchorage, 7 years as the Bishop of Cheyenne and many more as a priest of the Archdiocese of Indianpolis.

Preaching is a priority for my episcopal ministry, and this blog is my humble effort to engage the New Evangelization and to serve you, God’s holy, faithful people! Enjoy your visit, and together, may we grow in truth and love.

Our Lady of Seattle, pray for us
