Today was a ‘warm-up’ for fuller days ahead.  Below are some photos from our visit to the Casa Santa Maria dell’ Umilta (Our Lady of Humility,) the House of Studies for American priests working on advanced theological degrees.  Msgr. Francis Kelly is the rector of the Casa.  The Casa served as the first location for the Pontifical North American College when it was established in 1859 by Blessed Pius IX.

After our welcome, meal, and visit to the Casa Santa Maria, we transferred to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major for Mass.  We celebrated Mass at the altar of Our Lady, under the title of Salus Populi Romanus (Our Lady of Salvation of the Roman People.)  This image is above the altar, and is a very popular devotion to this day to the people of Rome, and is said to also be a miraculous image.
