There are very few saints from our tradition that knew and loved the Lord, Jesus as St. Catherine. I am so grateful to have discovered her as she has helped me to love the same Lord, and to know and love and serve his Church.

St. Catherine found so much ‘communion’ with the Lord in the Eucharist. Even as she took on such severe fasts and penances in her life, she always sought that ‘food’ which alone could slake her thirst for Christ in the Eucharist.

Please enjoy the story of her receiving a miraculous communion in today’s homily in the video of today’s Mass below.

I offered mass especially today for the people of the Archdiocese of Seattle, as one year ago today I was appointed coadjutor Archbishop of Seattle.
