Feast days of members of the Holy Family are always accompanied by strong feelings of gratitude for my own family. Images of Our Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, the Holy Family, Jesus adorned the homes of my family and grandparents. But, they were not just idle images of art, but rather touch stones of faith that was regularly lived and invoked in the home, family, parish and broader community. In short, faith permeated our day-to-day life.

This is precisely what St. Paul speaks of in the Letter to the Colossians when he encourages to love in all things and to do everything from the heart for the Lord. (cf. Colossians 3: 14-15, 17, 23-24)

St. Joseph was a humble man, filled with much wisdom and faith, who lived as St. Paul encourages us. May we follow his example, living with humble faith, growing in wisdom, creating families of faith.
