Jesus Is Calling: “Spend Time With Me”

We stand on the Eve of the greatest Liturgy of the Year – the Triduum – Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, which culminates in the celebration of Easter. Jesus is calling us to spend time with him during these Holy Days. The One who as God came to dwell among us is inviting us to accompany him through his final days when he instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper, through his being handed over, passion, death and resurrection. These days are the greatest revelation of his true identity as the Son of […]

Make Plans Now For A Holy Week!

Two years ago, I had the great experience of traveling to the Holy Land during the first two weeks of Easter.  The day before that pilgrimage ended, I celebrated Mass in one of the holiest sites of our faith, the Holy Sepulchre.  After spending weeks visiting the country side and villages where Jesus was born, raised, baptized, preached, performed miracles, was transfigured; following the path and places of his passion and crucifixion all culminated in this celebration of the precious gift he left us, the Eucharist, in the place where he rose from the dead. […]

Hello Spring!

It is looking more like Christmas than the beginning of the Triduum at the Cheyenne Cathedral today! Despite the weather outside, I am grateful to have the business demands of these days finally behind me.  It is a welcome moment to begin to prayerfully enter into the spirit of these holy days. I hope and pray your Lenten observance has helped you grow in virtue and holiness.  Ultimately, these steps forward in the spiritual journey are a part of the ultimate goal of drawing nearer to Christ. I continue to pray for all of you, […]

Easter Triduum

My dear friends, today we prepare to enter the Sacred Triduum. I wish to encourage all of this readership to make sure you know what the liturgical schedule is for your parish these next three days; Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Great Easter Vigil. Our presence and full participation at these liturgies is critical. Every Christian has a vital role to play in the life of the Church and from there in the world to further God’s Kingdom. We can only accomplish our God-given role when we are walking as disciples with Christ.  The […]

Holy Week Begins…

With Sunday Evening Prayer I, Holy Week is upon us.  With the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, we begin this sacred week.  We are invited as the People of God to journey with Christ this week. A fitting beginning to this week is our own profession that Jesus is Lord, the promised Messiah, sent from the Father for the salvation of the world.  It is important to make this profession of faith, which we have heard in the Gospel so much this week, that Jesus is the one sent from the Father.  Through the events of […]
