The Word of God Makes Us Competent As Disciples Of Jesus

St. Paul’s instruction to St. Timothy reminds us of the traits necessary in those who would follow Jesus. Timothy payed close attention to Paul who so faithfully served Christ and preached the Good News. Paul also teaches us the importance of purpose, patience, love, perseverance, as well as to expect Read more…

Gifts Of The Holy Spirit Are Given For Some Benefit

On this Solemn Feast of Pentecost, we recall the great gift of the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit’s ongoing role in the life of the Church. Today I remember especially all who have been unable to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this spring due to the coronavirus. May the Holy Read more…

St. Mark, Evangelist: Writing And Witness Of Life

We celebrate today the Feast of St. Mark, Evangelist. I cannot help but think that Mark lived as a great witness to Christ before, or at least, while he was writing his Gospel. Once again in this Easter season we hear the great commission of Jesus: Go into the whole Read more…

Power Of Resurrection Source Of Grace For Church’s Mission

Wounds Of Risen Christ; Trophies Of Love

Good morning everyone. Hope you are remaining in the joy of Easter! Another resurrection account is offered for our reflection today. Archbishop Etienne's Welcome Mass in Seattle

Welcome to my blog, and thanks for visiting! I became the Archbishop of Seattle on September 3, 2019 after serving as Coadjutor Archbishop of Seattle from June 7, 2019. Prior to that, I served 2 and a half years as Archbishop of Anchorage, 7 years as the Bishop of Cheyenne and many more as a priest of the Archdiocese of Indianpolis.

Preaching is a priority for my episcopal ministry, and this blog is my humble effort to engage the New Evangelization and to serve you, God’s holy, faithful people! Enjoy your visit, and together, may we grow in truth and love.

Our Lady of Seattle, pray for us
